CLARKE FURIOUS

The Birmingham city manager Lee Clark was extremely furious with his players after the 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Huddersfield town in the Championship. Birmingham city have been facing a lot of problems in terms of finances over the last season and half. However, the former manager Chris Hughton was able to divert the financial problems away from the players. In the end, Birmingham city had a decent finish to the Championship season last time around. However, they have made a very poor start this time around and are currently closer to the relegation zone.

The 1-0 defeat suffered against the former League One club has meant that Birmingham are currently having only 11 points on the board despite having played 10 matches in the Championship. As a result, it is going to be extremely difficult for them to even get into the play-offs position. The manager Lee Clark has said that his players have only themselves to blame following the defeat against Huddersfield town. The former Leeds United and Everton striker Jermaine Beckford scored the only goal of the game. Clark has said that Birmingham city were not competitive in any area of the pitch and deserved to get beaten.

“I thought first half we handed the initiative to Huddersfield, we weren’t competitive enough. Or certainly we didn’t have ten outfield players who were competitive enough. I know it takes all kinds to make up the facet of a team but we have to – all ten outfield players – take responsibility to compete with their opponents and come out with a 50-50 on the odd occasion. We tried to have a go second half. We brought Nikola Zigic on and did well,” said the manager after the match, which has left his team close to the relegation zone.
