MORRISON IMPRESSES

Birmingham manager Lee Clarke has revealed that he is extremely interested in having Ravel Morrison in the squad for next season as well. The midfielder, who was on loan from West Ham last season, was one of the impressive players for Birmingham. The club managed to finish the Championship season in the mid-table positions, which was reasonable given the financial difficulties they have been facing in recent years. Clarke is now hoping that he is able to strike a deal with West Ham to keep Morrison for one more season on a loan deal.

West Ham manager Sam Allardyce may be interested in such a deal given that it may help him to develop Morrison even more. The former Manchester United man may not get regular first-team opportunities at Upton Park immediately. Hence, it makes sense to keep him out on loan for another season in the hope of building his experience. The midfielder made 30 appearances in all competitions and scored three goals as well. He has had a reputation for being hot headed, but Clarke managed him extremely well during his time at St Andrews.

The manager has revealed that he is looking at bringing in a couple of players on a permanent deal before the end of the transfer window. The club are likely to challenge for a play-off position this season.

“I have made it common knowledge that I would like to re-sign Ravel Morrison and Shane Ferguson. We have registered our interest in bringing those lads back so that’s a possibility. Ravel and Shane have both indicated to me that they would like to come back. The thing with Ravel is that, for a manager, he has been a challenge, without a shadow of a doubt. I am hoping that maybe I can get two more in, possibly three,” said Clarke.
